Meet Uprise Solar’s Team

Chris started Uprise to provide solar for residents in all four quadrants of the District. After 10 years in the industry, he saw an opportunity to deliver the highest quality work that still fits any customer’s budget. He is building an all-star team that covers solar, EV chargers, and other modern energy solutions. He’s the father of one very energetic five-year-old and has been proud to call DC home for 16 years.

Phil has been bringing solar to communities around the world since the 1980s, with experience spanning finance, sales, technical training, and project management. A true energy nerd, he’s on a mission to live a near zero-carbon, low-waste, high-fun lifestyle—and he’s always ready to dive into a spreadsheet if it helps move the mission forward. Phil’s passion for clean energy is matched by his love of the outdoors; when he’s not helping homeowners go solar, you’ll likely find him hiking, playing pickleball, or tending to his garden.

Zeko got his start in the solar industry in 2015 as an installer after moving to the United States from Albania. Before solar, he was an environmental activist and worked in multimedia, but was spending all his time in front of a screen and realized he needed to be outside and build things. He worked his way up to senior crew lead and a trainer for new hires before becoming Uprise’s Director of Construction. Zeko is a Solar PV Operations Qualified Electrical Worker, and loves having a career that makes an impact in many ways — not just environmental, but social as well, since solar helps people save money. At Uprise, he’s building a culture of growth. He believes leadership isn’t just about doing more, but about helping others grow. Outside of work, Zeko enjoys socializing with friends, camping, and spending time at the beach.

Maris has helped hundreds of families switch over to renewable energy since she began working in the solar industry in 2019. She is a graduate of George Washington University, where she studied political science. Maris is passionate about combating climate change by educating homeowners on the environmental and financial reasons to go solar in DC. She spends much of her free time painting portraits of her friends and trying to achieve her lofty annual reading goal. 

Driven by a passion to combat climate change, Patrick is a results-oriented solar professional with over 12 years of experience building and leading high-performing sales teams, driving revenue growth, and fostering deep community engagement. His mission is to inspire others to join the renewable energy movement, using his expertise in project management, system design, installation, and maintenance to deliver top-tier, customer-focused solutions.

When he’s not working to create a brighter, more sustainable future, you’ll find Patrick hosting lively dinner parties, rollerblading through DC, hitting the slopes, or being lovingly bossed around by his small (and opinionated) dog, Pickle. Just don’t stand too close on a windy day—his hair has been known to launch into its own solar orbit. 

TJ has been in the roofing game since 1997, getting his start through a family member and sticking with it because he loves working with his hands—and being outside. A lifelong DC local, he brings decades of experience and a deep sense of pride to every project.

When he’s not managing roof installs or making sure everything is watertight, you’ll find TJ focused on what matters most: his faith, his family, football, and getting in a good round of golf. With TJ on the team, you know the roof—and the crew—are in good hands.

Jesus Lucas entered the solar industry in 2021, after years in the hospitality industry, when Uprise’s founder Chris opened a door for him to start a new career path in solar permitting. Jesus was drawn to working in an industry where he felt like he could make a change and do his part for the world. His family moved to Virginia when he was in 7th grade, and he moved to DC five years ago. He loves that DC is its own unique melting pot. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his partner Matt, a schoolteacher for DCPS, playing bocce, trying out new restaurants, spending time with his family in Virginia, and thrifting.

Kyle brings a deep background in organizing, having managed multiple electoral canvassing campaigns and supported operations for small businesses across the DMV. He’s also a FEMA logistics reservist, trained to show up when it counts. At Uprise, he channels his passion for progressive causes into expanding access to renewable energy and building strong community partnerships. Outside of work, you’ll find him at Towers Park with his dog Brisket, cheering on the Nats or West Ham, or dominating your local trivia night.

Rigobert started working with Uprise in July 2023, bringing over a decade of experience as a domestic electrician in Cameroon. Since arriving in the United States, he’s embraced the opportunity to expand his knowledge in renewable energy—and solar has quickly become his new passion.

A natural leader, Rigobert runs our install crews on-site and handles the electrical work with precision, reliability, and a can-do attitude. He thrives on learning new things, tackling challenges head-on, and never giving up until the job is done right.

Rigobert loves being part of the Uprise team, which he says feels like a place everyone would wish to work thanks to the amazing colleagues. Off the clock, he’s all about family time and soccer—still bringing that same energy and heart to every part of his life.

Enthusiastic about making a difference, Semi joined the solar industry this year. Having worked in the construction and customer service industries, he understands the emotional importance of building our living spaces. He’s a firm believer in the power of solar energy to combat climate change and is fully committed to absorbing all the knowledge and expertise Uprise Solar has to offer.

Semi loves hiking and being in connection with nature. When he’s not adventuring, he’s usually seeking out cozy coffee spots or playing chess. 

Shannon graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, Sustainability. She’s always been interested in the ever-changing technology of the renewable field. Shannon started her career in solar in 2014 as an inspection/permit coordinator. She really enjoys operations and grew into a role overseeing design, permitting, inspection, SRECs, and project management. She’s thrilled to be working with Uprise. In her free time, Shannon is a Reiki practitioner and mom of three wild boys, and enjoys spending time with her family pets. 

Born in Cameroon and raised on the soccer field, Afa brought his competitive spirit and global outlook all the way to Maryland. After hanging up his cleats as a retired professional soccer player, he found a new calling in solar—where the sun is always the MVP. For Afa, solar is more than clean energy; it’s a way to create everyday impact and a brighter future for the planet. Now, he’s inspired to help others harness the power of the sun, one rooftop at a time.

AJ is a solar installer at Uprise Solar and Roofing who takes real pride in the craftsmanship behind every project. They work hands-on to make sure each system is installed safely, cleanly, and built to last. Known for their attention to detail and strong work ethic, AJ helps turn good designs into solid, reliable systems that homeowners can count on for decades.

Burim joined Uprise Solar and Roofing in May as an Assistant Project Manager and has quickly become a key part of the team. From the moment a contract is signed, he helps guide each project through every stage, including system design, project documentation, Enphase setup, and inspection scheduling. He works behind the scenes to keep everything organized and moving smoothly, making sure every installation meets high quality standards. Even while working remotely, Burim stays closely connected to the team and values the strong collaboration that makes projects successful.

Outside of work, he is a proud father of two and puts a high value on responsibility and consistency, both at home and on the job. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, socializing, and exploring different cultures, always looking to learn from new people and experiences.

Dave is a NABCEP certified PV Installation Professional with over twelve years of solar experience spanning nearly every corner of the industry. After studying engineering, he felt a pull to use his technical skills for something that made a positive difference in the world. That led him to solar, where he started out knocking on doors in residential sales before quickly moving into the field as an installer. From there, Dave advanced into site supervision, design, operations and maintenance. In the commercial sector, he continued to grow as a construction manager, safety manager, project engineer, quality manager, and interconnection manager — experience that gave him a deep understanding of how systems should be built, how they interact with both the utility grid and customer’s electrical systems, and what it takes to keep them running for decades. At Uprise, Dave heads efforts in engineering, O&M, and staff training and development. When he’s not climbing on roofs or reviewing solar designs, you can find Dave on his bike, in the rock climbing gym, grilling something delicious, or trying to keep up with his energetic two-year-old.

Born and raised in DC, Duncan’s love for nature and sports keeps him grounded and always chasing the next big win for the planet. With a degree in Energy and Sustainable Policy, he’s no stranger to the power of clean tech. A true believer in the sun (and not just for summer vibes), Duncan joined Uprise to turn climate solutions into real results for his hometown community.

Originally from Nigeria, Emmanuel is the youngest member of the Uprise crew and brings energy, focus, and a deep love for soccer. When he’s not installing solar panels, he’s playing for a part-time pro team in Northern Virginia—with none other than his teammate Afa as the coach. Emmanuel’s passion, drive, and team-first attitude make him a rising star in solar and a powerful force for the future both on the roof and on the field.

Gavin works in Sales Outreach at Uprise Solar and Roofing, helping connect homeowners with honest information about their solar options. He is currently a full time student at George Washington University and balances school with part time work on the team.

Gavin is easy to talk to, thoughtful in how he approaches conversations, and brings great energy to outreach. Outside of work and classes, he is a serious ping pong player and can absolutely hustle you at the table if you are not paying attention.

Isaiah Wool is a member of the sales team at Uprise Solar and Roofing, where he helps homeowners feel confident about going solar. He is a proud graduate of Howard University and carries that Bison spirit with him. Isaiah brings a calm, cool presence to every conversation and makes it easy for people to ask real questions. Outside of work, he loves plants, painting, and music, which gives him a creative edge and a great eye for detail.

Whether he’s treasure hunting for hidden gems or just kicking back with friends, Nelson brings curiosity and good vibes wherever he goes. As a Project Manager + Inspections Coordinator (and the most easygoing guy on the team), he keeps things moving smoothly from install to final approval. Nelson got into solar for the great job—but stayed because he loves being part of something bigger. Helping people go solar and make a difference? That’s a win in his book.

Originally from Cameroon, Octavius brings the same energy to solar that he brings to the soccer field—and his paintbrush. When he’s not working on rooftops, you’ll find him creating art or cheering on his favorite team. He joined the solar world to be part of a movement: clean, reliable power without interruption. For Octavius, every panel installed is a step toward a brighter, more sustainable future.

Roman brings a diverse mix of technical skill, hands-on trade experience, and international perspective to his work. A graduate of Skidmore College with a degree in Physics and a minor in German, he has studied and worked in both the United States and Germany, including completing an intensive language program at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg.

His career path reflects his versatility, from installing solar panels and energy storage systems in Germany to working as a math instructor, bartender, and sculptor’s assistant. Roman has developed practical expertise in electrical work, craftsmanship, and customer service while maintaining a strong analytical foundation from his physics background.

Fluent in German and proficient in Spanish, Roman is also an accomplished athlete, having competed at the collegiate and semi-professional level in soccer both domestically and abroad. His experience on the field and in leadership roles translates into a collaborative, team-focused approach in every project he takes on.

When he’s not working, Roman enjoys woodworking, travel, and staying active in competitive soccer leagues. He holds dual citizenship in the United States and Germany.

Taryn is a senior member of the sales team at Uprise Solar and Roofing and brings years of experience in the solar industry. She knows exactly what to look for when qualifying a home for solar, from roof condition and shading to long term savings potential, and she takes pride in giving homeowners clear, honest guidance. Beyond her expertise, Taryn is truly the life of the party and one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, which makes working with her feel easy and enjoyable from the first conversation.
